Inner Critic

So what did you do tonight? I gave my inner critic a name. Her name is Ethel! She's the queen of double standards. She's rather untidy and her idea of dressing up is bedroom slippers, sweats, and a stretched out sweater. She can never remember where she puts things and her idea of a job well done is "a lick and a promise". You can't read her handwriting and she's too busy critisizing me to do any art herself. Or anything else for that matter. She tells me, I can't do anything right, why bother, my handwriting is terrible, and the only art I can do is worthy for outhouse walls! The nerve of her. She also has a way of expection perfection from me and really likes to gloat over when she gets me to give up. I tried to take a picture of her but she's pretty crafty at avoiding the camera. I'm probably going to have to sit down and do a picture from memory. It might take a day or two as she always sticks her nose in everything even when she's not wanted!!! Sound familiar? Drop a line and tell me about your inner critic and we can commiserate together. If you can catch your critic on camera though I'm telling you, it's next to impossible!

I like that: giving my inner critic a name, because she's always around! I'm thinking on that one, but I like it. My inner critic insinuates that I am not worthy, I wasn't nice enough, creative enough, giving enough, neat enough (big one), organized enough (bigger one), and compassionate enough. Ack!

Oh, Ethel sounds like a real pain. Don't go to lunch with her because she will not let you get a word in edgewise.

Yes, I know someone like her. I'm not even going to mention her name here. It would give her too much pleasure.
Instead I'll tell you about Isabella. She's the one who tells me that I can do anything! I bet you have a friend like that too.
What's her name?

We need to catch up. Miss you.
